Structure of a chess conference/tournament?

Hi,

I'm very new to chess although I've been playing a lot on chess.com in the last year or so (a year today in fact!) and have steadily improved.

I've decided to take the plunge and have entered into a local tournament in my town (Blackpool chess conference) in March.  Due to me not being a member of a chess club, they have put me in the standard section which of course I'm pleased with as I'm new to it all.

What I want to know is what is the structure of the tournament?  How many games will I play?  Does the last question depend on how I perform?  Any etiquette I should know about?  Lots of questions and yes I have checked their website and there is no info on such matters.  Are all tournaments run differently or are they standard?

If anyone could advise or even give me a link to an online guide I'd be very grateful.  Also what typically would the standard be like?  Will I get butchered?  :)

Cheers.

Rog.

I assume you mean this tournament. If so, the information is the sections labeled Timetable and Rate of Play

Thanks for the reply Martin but it still doesn't answer my questions.  Would I play in every round regardless of winning or losing?

While it doesn't specifically state it, I would think the tourney would be in a Swiss style format, so you will play each round, regardless of your score.

If you look at the previous year crosstables, you will see that all rounds are played.
