I'd recommend also spending a lot of time with endgames.
ChessTempo is good for tactics.
I received a lot of good advice, some pretty obvious. From my own personal experience, the single biggest thing that has helped me improve my rating in the past month is studying tactics.
Great!!
Only don't neglect the other parts of Chess especially the endgame kids and teens are killers in tactics they spend hours and hours on ct-art but when their opponents shift the fight to the endgame the wheels on their go-kart tend to come flying off.
When there are no tactics you better know what to do!

That is very true. Endgame theory is so deep, I think I will devote about two month's time on just the endgame alone.
A long time ago, I posted a question asking how I could improve in chess, just like thousands of others have done. I received a lot of good advice, some pretty obvious. From my own personal experience, the single biggest thing that has helped me improve my rating in the past month is studying tactics. I downloaded an app on my Android that gives me random tactical puzzles. Everyday I practice with those puzzles. Also, I do the tactical puzzles that chess.com supplies to its members. Both have increased my rating by 200 points within a month's time. The key is to continously study. Now, I know that tactics are not all you should study, but for players who are rated anywhere from 900-1300, I think it's a great place to start, and it allows you to start having more clear insights. Just wanted to share this for those who want to improve their chess strength.
