Studying

Hi all, I have a very simple question and it hope I will get a few answers. The question is: what is the best way to study? I have studied openings like they are going out of fashion, and have a good memory for retention, the problem arises when at my level 1300, my opponents just play moves that are totally random How do I study to defeat them when they play these moves?

"The question is: what is the best way to study?"
++ Key is to play longer games and analyse your lost games to learn from your mistakes.
Study of annotated grandmaster games is good too.

"I have studied openings" ++ Useless waste of time and effort.

"my opponents just play moves that are totally random" ++ Then you have to think.

"How do I study to defeat them when they play these moves?"
++ You cannot study to defeat, you have to think and play strong moves.

Don't be discouraged by seemingly random moves. Stick to your fundamentals and principles.
