Suggestion: Max 2 minutes pr move in blitz

Getting really frustrated with all the timewaster-trolls that don't want to click resign and prefer to have you wait for their last 7 minutes to run out. Some of them just "loose connection", I guess they just close the window.

The systems in place just don't work.There's so many of them.

I propose that you ony have 2 minutes pr move, so if you spend more than 2 minutes on a move, you loose, regardless of how much of your 10 minutes you have left. This would make me wait only 2 minutes pr timewaster.

I would disagree on this, there has many matches, tournament, or challenges at 2400+ where a player used more then 2 mins on a move in blitz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L7BNa7Npqc (She uses a lot of time for one move) If you started that time control, then your willing to play out that time control, I play 3-0, cause I don't want to wait out a 10 min game.

Ah but in your end of the game where people are serious it isnt needed, and you probably dont know what the problem is since you dont wallow in the lower rankings like me :)

My rating bounces between 900 and 1050, when I am at the low end of it because of experimenting and playing while tired I get a lot of new people entering the site, many are just trolls. I just play blitz against random people not tournaments either.

The two minute rule is needed here because so many people are more like usual internet trolls than actual players. I in fact went back to this thread because I had to wait 4 minutes because some guy for no reason decided to close the window instead of clicking resign when he lost his queen. There is no point, he still looses the game - they just want to annoy you because they are angry they lost. I dont even bother to watch the rest of the games to see if they come back anymore, they never do, I just watch youtube while their time runs out.

Some accounts have 10 people writing complaints that they just leave games when hey are loosing, the site is supposed to have some means to block them out, it just isnt working.

It would work fine if the 2 minute rule applied to people below rating 1000 since the majority of timewaster-trolls are below that rating.

It would also work if you could select the option if you wanted to or not, then the people that think its funny to wait 9.45 minutes for a guy that lost his queen in the fourth move can do that, and I can not do it, because I'd rather play a new game instead of waiting for nothing.

The website knows about the problem and has some sort of countermeasture, at least you get a message saying

"Player may have violated our Fair Play policy - it has been noted and they may have their account restricted."

But it has no effect, zero, none. The just keep doing it.

It sounds like a good idea to me, as long as it is optional.

If it was allowed it would also be nice to have the ability to consider "bids" n a seek/challenge that I've created.

Say I create a game with he 2 minute rule but am not getting any bites... then somone offers to play... but with 2 minutes 15 seconds (or whatever) instead - I might be happy to play that.

the only 3 things chess.com, can do, which would still be fair to players who do think over 2 mins long. They can monitor activity, if you have not moved the mouse in 2 min, then you lose the game, this will make players be there, if they want the opponent to run out of time, also they can make it so, that if the player disconnects or leaves the page, then he loses right away. (This will make those with bad connections, stop playing). Or lets say something they won't do, they can have a screenshare system with every live game going on and monitor everything, then kick anyone who they want. But I doubt chess.com will do anything soon.

Then just play a Game 2 min.

i think the obvious solution is to play a 2/0 time control game.

nobody is making you play a game that lasts longer than 2 minutes on both sides. 

I've lost multiple games from taking too long to move when I was actually just thinking.

I prefer 10 minute games. Its more fun if people act normal.

As we speak I am waiting 6 minutes because the guy disconnected after having played 6 minutes. You can check it if you want to.

He got the may have violated our Fair Play policy - it has been noted and they may have their account restricted.

But the guy has played over 3000 games and his wall is full of messages about people complaining about. Doesnt look like the game does anything about it at all really.

Well when Im here its sorta because I want to play chess. :)

It not really  solution saying "sorry, this websites just sucks, its just the way it has to be, just do something else". A solution would be making the website better and getting rid of the timewaster trolls.

The problem is, you cant penalize everyone for the actions of a few.  Some people have slow connections, weather related, kids, cat walks across the keyboard, family issues, emergency of some kind, etc.  My point is...you dont know the circumstances.

I dont think you play a lot of games in 850-1050 blitz, so i dont think you know how bad it is.

Its really obvious to sell the difference between people that disappeas because of their connection or cat or whatver, which off couse can happen-

The time wasters always leave the second the game becomes impossibleto win for them, for instance when they loose their queen because they mess up. Its always like" You check queen, player lost connection at the same time.

And its some days maybe 25% of games are like that. If you get them 3 games in a row, play time is 9 minutes and waiting for their clocks to run down is 21 minutes.

You can off course resign which I do a lot, the problem is off course that the whole point is that you should get better and play against harder opponents, not progress sooo slowly because all the games your opponets leaves you loose. The lower your rating gets, the more timewasters you meet as well (its mostly people that just started, i never saw any timesters above 1000.)

And its not a few. Theres sooo many people doing it. If it was 10% I wouldnt mind, I'd just resign and get on with it.

Unfortunately, until chess.com gets serious about doing something it, there isnt much you can do.  Or...chess.com could increase the number of people you can block from 200 to 100,000 or more.  This is why i only play 2/1 games. 

I propose we restrict the accounts of people who agree to games at X number of minutes then whine when the game takes X number of minutes.

I agree to a game yes. Its not a game anymore though when the other guy just leaves instead of resigning.

I waiting for a guys 3 minutes to run out right now lol. I guess I can use my waiting time in this thread.

Why do people here love trolls? Do you consider it normal behaviour which chess.com should condone that you just leave from a game without saying a word? Is this normal do to this IRL?
