Good notes from hoynck!
Surprisingly Easy Win!

This is extremely strange.
I'm at 1080 and just started playing online-chess a week ago or so and even I, before reading other comments was wondering about:
5. Nb5?
7. Bc8?
13. Ne2?
and finally
14. Nxh2?
which sealed the deal.
Was this maybe 1 Minute-Speedchess or something? Because even down at my level there's usually not such a high blunder-density. ^^
Just in case someone still wants to know what is so bad about 7. Bc8:
Goal of the development is to free the last line of all pieces but the rooks and the king, so you can castle and thus connect the rooks.
This move pretty much reverts the development of the bishop with no tactical purpose whatsoever and thus is nothing but delaying and giving the opponent at least one free move.

In the real world, even a retard monkey would not play 7...Bc8. This move shows complete ignorance of the game fundamentals.
This comment shows complete ignorance of common courtesy. Can you believe a professional would say something like this to an amateur?? Incredible.
I totally agree X1000. Totally discouraging. pfren uses a sledge hammer where a feather of encouragement is needed. Fortunantly, his type is rare... most of the IM's and GM's Ive met at tournaments are very encouraging.... nothing like this.

It does not look like chess to me.
For example, could anyone with 3 milligrams of brains explain the move 7...Bc8?
Because if Nxd5 exd5. Qxd5. That was how I saw it. It may have been a case of paranoia, though

Allthough I agree with you Pfren. You could REALLY work on your people skills.
Why don't you make it a positive experience for people to find out an IM posted in their thread?
Instead of being so patronizing, you could be a bit more constructive for a change
I kind of agree with you. Although I don't mind the criticism at all, I think he is showing absolutely lack of empathy and assuming that everybody sees chess at the level of an IM. Actually, much more retarded moves happen all the time. I am a beginner, I have to say, only started playing last year. I saw the threat of Nxd5, exd5. Qxd5. Perhaps no one would give up their knight like that, but the occasional sacrifice does gain positional advantage. To be quite honest, I'd rather remain a beginner that become an IM if being patronizing goes with the title!

It's been apparent to me that pfren is just (no name calling, please) struggling with some 'chess superiority' complex in order to compensate for other inadequate aspects of his life.
Really, don't mind him.

I was going to comment something on this thread but then I realized there are too many sensitive people here, oh well..

If a move stinks, then it stinks. Why pretend otherwise? This is not nursery school. A few harsh words shouldn't send you home in tears. When I make a stupid move, which is fairly often, I have no objection when someone points out how stupid it is.
+1

You would think from his comments, he was never at that level. Everybody starts out crappy before they get better.

A couple of years ago, I submitted one of my games for analysis and was lucky enough to have Grandmaster Dzindzichashvilli do a video on my game. At one point he pointed out that one of my moves was "absolutely terrible," and showed "a complete lack of understanding." Well, that certainly got my attention! It wasn't the nicest thing to hear, but it made it clear to me that there was something wrong with my chess understanding. And I went over his remarks and suggested improvement many times, until I was sure I understood why my choice of moves was so bad. The funny thing was, my opponent reacted poorly to my bad move, made a few more errors later, and eventually lost. If it hadn't been for the grandmaster's harsh words, I probably would have gone on thinking that I had made an excellent move, and I would never have corrected my misconception. But those strong words made me sit up, take notice, and learn something
Stating that it's a terrible move is one thing, being a snide butt hole about it is quite another.

It's been apparent to me that pfren is just one bitter asshole struggling with some 'chess superiority' complex in order to compensate for other inadequate aspects of his life.
Really, don't mind him.
I guess your hair also had some sort of superiority complex, so they committed suicide instead of having to live on top of such a head.

Maybe it is because of what I went through during my music education but you could try and see the humour in IM Pfren and PaulGottlieb's posts?
None of my teachers ever told me: sit down, I have some bad news for you... No, they yelled at me and even told me that they were not going to listen to this crap. And guess what? It made me a stronger person. (or am I just fooling myself ) And honestly, I wouldn't mind someone telling me I play chess like an idiot, because I do, in fact.
I always compare it with music. Who has more fun... An amateur or a pro? If you play out of tune, that is just the way it is, really. You can draw flowers around it, but it doesn't change the fact that you play out of tune.
And maybe even more important: there is beauty in imperfection as much as there is in perfection.

Lol, I was going to suggest he comes out to Thailand and spends the night with an extremely hot Thai chick. That might chill him out. Well, there is a chess tournament in Bangkok on April 12!! Why not?

I think what is funniest about this post is that me, the perpetrator of that terrible move, is not offended by the criticism at all. I just think the way that he went about criticizing me wasn't exactly constructive. And I don't need patronizing. I think under any normal circumstances, I would never play a move like Bc8. Of course, returning the bishop to the back rank is not something I usually like to do. So, could someone please tell me, was I being paranoid when I saw the threat of 7... Bxc5. 8 Nxd5, exd5. 9 Qxd5, threatening the bishop on c5. I just saw those center pawns as key to my position. I don't mind if you think it was a terrible move, but tell me why in a constructive way and I will gain something from it. I'm guessing pfren isn't a teacher as well as a player. And if you think that such as Knight sacrifice is crazy, one only has to look at the games of Tal to know that such moves can and do work! Finally, I'm just glad my short and flawed game has created so much debate. Thanks to all who commented!

Well, no harm here. Just dont be an AH. I don't see what that's got to do with sport. I'm sure there are many GMs who are great chaps. Chances are a lot of people who play chess all the time and don't have many opportunities to develop people skills become a little anti-social. Personally, I'd rather maintain a healthy balance between chess skills and people skills. After all, how old is pfren? and he's only an IM, perhaps he's a little bitter that he doesn't have the GM title after all these years?

Ouch! You had to go there
Hey. IM pfren is just being real. Terrible move. Soooo.... yeah.
