Tactics problems reward patience not speed

I find this kind of annoying, because you can do 10 problems and if you solve them fast you only mostly get 5-6 points anyway, and if you get 1 wrong you lose 10 points.

You have no choice but to spend 5 minutes solving it to get 2-3 points, when some are near impossible to see to conclusion without moving pieces forward at the rating they're in the context of.

I wish there was a greater balance so I could solve a few problems quickly

the benefit of tactics isn't the score or the tactics rating. it's the knowledge you aquire.

Then do chess tempo. They don't penalise you on time.

However, is time important to you? You're knackered in timed games

I solved a problem in 10.5 minutes this morning. I got +1. The average solving time for the problem is 2.5 minutes. It also has a 67% failure rate. I felt that success in this problem had more benefits than 30 minutes of faster tactics.

I suck at time, but I'm good with it. That's true of tactics and chess in general. what are we testing exactly? If it's tactics under time? ie live games? or correspondence ?
