B). Rapid (2-5 mins)
C). Blitz" (5-14 mins)
?
Not bad. Then I'd need you tactics trainer score and ELO rating for both Rapid and Blitz. Thanks! Anyone else interested in this topic?
What I'm confused about is why you have the categories of Rapid and Blitz switched. Let me go run and get an article explaining the time formats....
https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444851-why-are-there-three-different-ratings-in-live-chess-
Anyway good luck with your project!
I play A, B and C I believe (I play 1+0; 3+0; and 5+0) My average ratings for blitz and bullet (the two ratings you get for A, B and C) is around 1900 (2000 in blitz and a bit over 1800 in bullet).
My tactics trainer is 2202
Hey guys, I've been noticing I've been struggling with the tactics trainer here on Chess.com for whatever reason (I think part of it is in my head because I do better on other sites). But I'd like to run an informal experiment to test whether "Chess is [actually] 99% tactics." So, if you could, please submit to me your tactics trainer score ON CHESS.COM to keep an equal measure across the data, as well as your Live rating or Correspondence rating. If it's your live rating, please specify what bracket your play mostly falls into. It can fall into multiple brackets, such as liking to play about 50% "Fast" and 50% of your games as "normal" and then your ratings for each.
A). Bullet (2 mins or under)
B). Rapid (2-5 mins)
C). Blitz" (5-14 mins)
D). Long (15 mins to 30 mins).
E.) Tournament Times (35 mins+)
F.) Custom - If you fluctuate a lot and think you split your time 5 types of different lengths, try to boil it down to 3 at the most, so as not to dilute the data. Though if you really want to, go ahead, I'm not gonna tell you what you can and can't do! ALSO, please include the approximate # of games you've played in that time bracket.
Also, if you regularly play games with increments or that are a number not listed in the options, try to round to the closest number in your estimation. For example, I often play 5 min with 5 second increments, I've found that usually comes out somewhere 8-10 mins long.
**Just write the amount of time on your timer, not the length of the total game.
**If you don't want to share your tactics trainer rating or other rating, you can message me privately, I'm not going to even attach a name to the data. And if there's anything else you'd like to share (where's a good beginner's book on which Sicilian to play as white/black or which one do you play that has a good book?) then go ahead! Once I have collected as much data as possible, I'd be happy to share what the correlation and graphs (for example, does playing speed affect rating? Does someone with a 10 min rating of 800 have a 20 min rating of 1250?) Thanks for this opportunity!!
I'll write a quick example:
My tactics trainer score is 1223. I practiced about 2000 problems. I spent most of my time playing online, live chess that was 75% Blitz" with a score of 763 and about 1,100 games played. The other 25% A(Very Quick) I have a score of 1058 in rapid. (NOTE: My story's a bit unusual b/c I first started playing chess intensely about 10 years ago then just recently about 4 months ago picked it up again and have been playing since trying to work off a decade of rust and re-learn the game).
