Regarding the computer play: is it best to play against a high level, to learn, yet pyschologically always lose, or to seek a level closer to my own?

When I complete a tactic successfully, giving me a material advantage, I am, sometimes, stopping at that point, and playing out the game against the computer.
I set it at 2000.
I do not always complete the win.
Is this a good practice technique?
I can convert a winning position against 1200.
