hi, im really trying to improve my game, ive been playing competitivly for a little over 2 months now. i heard that the best way that a 1200-1400 player like me can improve is to hammer tactics. but i cant get out of the 1200-1350 range ( i practice everyday) please help. :)

Two suggestions:

The first is to take more advantage of your diamond membership by doing tactics courses over at the ChessMentor.  There are around 15 courses by GM Patrick Wolff alone that each teach a seperate motif.  Tactics are harder if you don't know what to look for.  If you're more of a video person, IM Danny Rensch covers the same material.

Second is to kick over to V3 where you can practice unrated and review puzzles you've missed or particular motifs.  That's Try the new Chess.com at the bottom of the page if you've never been there.  Good luck and have fun!

try to find a tatctics site that doesn't have the time control chasing you.

You could also go to 365 chess.

Two months is not that long, I'm over 50 and have played since I was 7 and my Tactical Rating is nothing to Crow about. Still it has slowly steadily improved since I got this site.

You might also Download one of Tim Brennan's Tactics time pgn's unfortunately they do come with the solutions so I strongly suggest taking a few minutes to cull the solutions from 100-300 problems and work through them or Droidfish or something.

Chess "Muscles" take time, like any other,  Arnold was not built in a day. : ) BB.

I suggesting doing a small set of puzzles over and over before moving on to new puzzles. It's not very glamorous, but it's effective.

Let's say you do something like 10 puzzles a day. After a few days you should have a group of puzzles you didn't get 100% correct. So the next day only do those puzzles. The day after that do them again, and repeat until you get them all correct.

A puzzle book is my preference. I will make a mark by the puzzles I miss. I can even easily see which I've missed multiple times, and how many times I've missed them. Sometimes I even write the date so when I try again a year later... you get the idea.

Online takes a little extra effort to save / find the puzzles you've missed, but should work just as well.
