You can only do take-backs in Daily Chess if you create the original challenge as Unrated on a Custom Challenge. Once you do that, there will be an Allow Takebacks? toggle you can turn on.
For the other, check Settings > Board and Pieces and see what Animation Type is set to. If it is set to Slow try Default

I find the new site very confusing. In particular I can't work out how to set takebacks in daily chess. Can you advise.
Also the moves are much slower even after the suggested 'fix' ie disabling the accelerator in Google.
Any suggestions.
