Taking advice from lower rated player

So I just got beaten someone lower than me.I'm rated 1500 and he is 1300.So he pointed out my mistake.So yeah I listen(what else should I do anyway)so he said to me."better learn some more"..in real life tournament..how do you react?
Every once in awhile, I encounter someone with a higher rating who doesn't know some endgame stuff as well as I do. I don't think it is too out-of-line to sort-of say, "Hey, if I can learn this stuff, surely you can, too."
