Taking Queen with Knight.

In the closing stages of my last game, I tried to take my opponents queen with my Knight but was unable to do so resulting in me loosing the game. Can someone have a look to tell me why?.....is it some obscure rule I have missed?.

Kind regards, Steve. (Wyvillman).

Chess games played on Chess.com are recorded and stored in your archive. The storage format is just a text file called pgn (portable game notation). You can look at them, analyze them and copy them to the forum if you have a question.

I am guessing that this is the situation you described:

I can't see any reason why you couldn't have taken the queen with your knight. But you still would have been losing, since black would take back with check and next win your other knight.

Thanks you so much for your reply. I feel my Pawns would have been in a better position to win a Queen. It certainly was strange not being able to take the Queen.

Many thanks, Steve.
