i have been playing chess for about an year now ..... i have played about 800 online games .... some very fast, some fast , some medium , but very few slow .... my slow i mean  20 minutes or slower...... I have read about 5-6 Heisman Novice nook articles... my estimated rating would be around 1600 ( blitz rating ) ... Heisman recommends to play slow games /..... so i decided to give it a go ! .... i played 3 slow games today ... one with time controls of 25 minutes with 10 second time increment and 2 with time limit of 15 minutes with sudden death after the time ... i played aganst strong players .... 25 minute game ... with 1 1950 rated person ( online ) ... I WON !!!!.... next two games of 15 minute time control .... I WON BOTH !!!... my opponent was rated 1800..... The secret of my wins as per i think... CONCENTRATE EVERY MOMENT DURING THE GAME .... yes this simple advice can make u win games with players 200 points above u... another secret - use heisman thought process as described in his articles ..... trust me .... opening manuals wont help u ... tactical puzzles will not help u as much ..... learning strategy is wastage until u r 1900 .... work on ur thought process.... i am 14 years old ... so may be my english would be bad .... but i hope u understood what i tried to say .... good luck
