It's a tool and like any tool, has it's uses and limitations. 

Can't speak to how a similar tool is implemented on any other site, just that Game Review and accuracy here, isn't the same for everyone. Depth, the player rating running the review, etc, all have an impact on the results.  That is by design. 

If you don't find it useful, then that's fine. I mainly use the score graphs and actual analysis values. Accuracy is just a rough gauge of performance.

ive had diamond for years, and ive used it plenty (my friend gifted gold, so i'll buy diamond again after its gone) and i can say that lichess accuracy rating is much better than all of the premium things on here.

I play on Lichess as well. I've never seen an accuracy rating there.

How is it "much more useful" when they're essentially the same thing?

Chess.com doesn't give a centipawn loss, but what do you think accuracy is based off of?

Anyway, for any game I'm earnestly interested in, I've never used a website's analysis function. Engines and GUIs are free (but you can also pay e.g. chessbase, which I happen to have).

And the changes to chess.com's are rather clunky and I think geared towards absolute beginners (which makes sense for multiple reasons, but makes them less appealing to me).

The accuracy rating on lichess is the centipawn loss. I find it much more accurate than this accurracy rating on here.

You have that on chess.com as well, in addition to your accuracy rating, which is something very different. If you play a winning position and make a move that is +9 while the best move is +10, that is considered very accurate, though it loses 100 centipawns.

accuracy = difference between best possible computer move 

Both have their place, but as a beginner i'm not so much interested whether i missed a complex mate in 4. I'm more interested in how the move has shifted the balance between opponent

No, the centipawn loss is exactly what you call accuracy.

The accuracy score is for the overall game. The move classifications are mapped to ranges of evaluation change. While each move doesn't give you a change of score metric, just the new eval, you can quickly see it be traversing through moves.
