Seriously, Firefox and AdBlock. It surprises me when people tell me there are ads on the internet.

I don't mind ads either. However, like Eric said, report those that jump out on your screen and disrupt what you are doing or ads with sound.

Again, I don't mind ads. Also, I like chess.com, but like Eric said, those ads that pop out on your screen or that have audio are ads that CHESS.COM doesn't even want on their site.
So, let me see if I've got this right:
1. Buying membership will solve.
2. Any number of software solutions exist for non-payers.

I feel like being told to buy a membership simply to get rid of the annoying ads is not a solution at all for like I said above, I have no issue with having ads on the site. It would be even better if the ads were keyed to the content of chess.com (i.e. chess related ads). Eric, how about some filters so that at least if we're going to see ads, we see ones that might actually entice us to click.
Initially, had I decided to write more about this topic, this would have been akin to what I would have written.
