When playing up you need to learn to make a draw before you learn to win.

I really don’t see any disadvantage of a draw.
You offer or accept a draw to your advantage and only if you think that under every condition available to you, it will be difficult to convert the game into a win.
Sometimes, blunders and winning combinations that can be seen easily by the audience cannot be seen by the players during the game, Until they already made a different move or after the game adjourned.

It's hard OTB to defeat a GM until you've drawn on. I've found you have knockdown psychological barriers to be able to push yourself to new heights. Generally, if playing down in important games I'd push a drawn position into a lost game in order to try to win.  Done that far too often.
