I thought Leonard DaVinci was at his best in Catch Me If You Can.
Erik, duh!, that was Leonardo DiCaprio, he experimented with kiting checks, not flying machines(except when he passed himself off as an airline pilot).
well now that explains it. i was always so confused as to why we attributed early helicopter designs and the mona lisa to a hollywood actor. wow do i feel silly...
Dont feel silly erik at all...one time I thought we attributed these great scientific and artistic achievements to another Leonard....he was of mixced Vulcan and human parentage, pointy ears and thought that our middle finger gesture was a normal human response to his split V fingers greeting.
It should be pointed out that, by the time of Gaugamela, Darius had already lost his queen (Stateira, also his sister) to his opponent (at the earlier battle of Issus). So not a lot of hope there.
But I do understand that Darius was working on jet propulsion and atomic weaponry before the Allied invasion...he just didn't have enough time to finish the projects.
Jet-powered, atomic elephants, anyone?
Of course...now everything hangs together. This explains Saddam's moves. He carried on his great-great-great-great-great granddaddy's ( the great Darius ) work to avenge this Western slight ( Battle of Gaugamela aka Battle of Arbela ) but President Bush, the great-great-great-great-great grandson of Alexander the Great repeated his ancestor's great achievement by stopping him ! Man, this is great stuff. Things are so much more easily understood when placed in historical perspective.
