The Female Brain Relating to Chess (kinda)

Emotional intelligence is based on how many beers you can consume before you start crying.

After the last vodka cranberry, I think my "female brain" is going to have a physical relation to this chess board in front of me...I hope it doesn't leave a bump

Surely you can multi-task and clear the pieces from the board with one arm using it to cushion your head while you're in the process of passing out....

Are you a girl, TheGrobe?

No, just a drunk.

That sucks, being drunk and trying to express your phallological gift of logic. All I have to do is take a shot while falling down.

No there is evidence that the men who take the tests have been more able to perform the tasks than the women. That's not evidence that there is an inherent difference in their brains biologically.
And when you say that men are better across the board where are you speaking from? I'm not contradicting you, I've just never seen it sourced.
Well, that does mean that there's a difference, and if not biologically, then what? Just the way they are raised socially? I suppose that's a plausible explanation, but then aren't you really just agreeing with me that one way or another, men have more one-track minds? I mean, why isn't really the issue here as far as I percieve it.
As far as what I meant by "across the board", I'm saying that you're average male test scores in math and science (as well as contributions to their respective communities) are more impressive than those of women. And the same is obviously true in chess... The top rated female player (Polgar) barely makes the top 50 active players, and would be kicked off that list if Kasparov or Karpov came out of retirement.

It's a good point -- if there's conclusive evidence of a difference, for the purpose of this argument does it matter if it's nature or nurture?

I know what you were saying. I asked for a source.

Also regarding language -- a "feral" child who never learns language, who is then brought into society will (I'm guessing) be mentally retarded. I heard the IQ test scores will relate to the density of your... some part of the brain (lol, again not a brain guy) but the feral child's brain will be fine, although without language will never give it the opportunity to develop a large amount of common knowledge and reasoning (I'm guessing). I just have to doubt the tests are so accurate... but again I don't know much about it, so if you have any info :)

I think it has more to do with the fact that beer reminds me of urine and I just can't stand the smell or the texture. Rum, on the other hand, is very yummy. But I have to mix it with lots of sugary, fruity stuff before I can usually down it.
I don't have great coordination, though, now that you mention it so you might be partially right...

corrijean, your links are interesting. That book, Alchemy of the Mind, seems like it would be interesting to read.
I don't think so
