The fun never stops

When I compare chess to life, I feel better about the hardships. The reason is that chess is such a dynamic interest that I have control over what happens. I'm very happy to have something I can enjoy that keeps me out of the dumps. I figure that if I get in a position that goes straight to hell, I can resign and start a new game. Chess and life are both games where the fun never stops.

It was once said that "there must needs be an opposition in all things". Without this simple truth we we could never know joy without experiencing sadness, never know right without knowing wrong, never experience love without experiencing hate, and so on. Yes, chess and life are much the same, both being controled by our choices. The hardships come in when we make the wrong choices. We can choose a course of action but we cannot choose the consequences of that choice.
