The Great Reset - Second Chance Account

Sort:

This is a second chance account, and a message to anyone who doubted PhantomMarker.

If you think I was cheating, I will 100% prove everyone wrong over the course of this next month. I will cement my place in this chess.com community, I'll show you exactly what I'm capable of.

I did technically violate rule 1 and 3 of Fair Play, but personally I didn't know this was considered cheating and will take heed in the future. I can promise you I wont make that mistake again.

To give some background, as a kid I was taught chess in various ways by a handful of relatives from a young age as I was fairly advanced for my age. Some of this play involved house rules (basically a few of them didn't have a good grasp of chess) no matter what rules I played by, real ones or rules made up by people just trying to keep me occupied who couldn't actually play chess... I usually won. I rarely ever lost to the same person beyond my first 3 or 4 games with them no matter how we played. I played against teachers at school (couldn't guess their ELO, I was too young to be able to grasp that) almost always won with few exceptions. Got to the point where I'd never lose against anyone I played as a kid... and it stopped being a challenge, so I became disinterested. I don't believe they intentionally let me win. Maybe initially when I was still grasping the rules, but definitely not towards the end when I quit.

Recently I bought Chess Ultra on PS4 for like £ in a sale, maybe 4 months ago tops, and didn't download it until a month or 2 ago. Spent some time playing through the tutorial stuff making sure I fully understood the fundamentals. Stuff slowly started coming back to me again. I learned a bunch of openings on YouTube and on the game. Started playing people online and slowly through trial and error, a lot of mistakes and inconsistency, a lot of coaching I got to like 900 ELO. When I was asked by my friend, what I was actually playing chess on, because I was just sending him rows of moves and he was reviewing them, pointing out errors. When I told him I was on Chess Ultra on PS4, he told me to create an account here.

He did assist me through a few games. I have no idea if he was using any kind of software to do this or not. This is my mistake, I didn't read the Fair Play policy and come from an Online Poker background, so I assumed Casino Style rules would be in play as this is a game. In a casino or an online poker game, you're usually allowed active analysis during your games, you're allowed people helping and calling plays. Maybe not in WPT in the main tournaments but its pretty much accepted anywhere else even on a casino floor... I thought it would fly here. Clearly not.
I will not apologize however as my previous account clearly got mass reported and banned. I assume I'll get flagged on this one before I even play my first game, I've seen how toxic and childish you can be.

All I'll say is... observe...

ice_cream_cake

You were banned after less than 30 games. I doubt you were allowed a "second chance account" so quickly.

I can assure you they have given me one.

Ok, I'll provisionally believe you. Welcome back.

Sorry, but I can't buy this. You boasted on your PhantomMarker account that you were so good at chess while receiving assistance, which is a blatantly dishonest act regardless of the Fair Play policy....doubting that you acted in ignorance when you've shown your capability for dishonesty.

No, sorry, I'm doubting this as well. The person who got me into chess started on chess.com with zero knowledge, was rated in the 100s at some point.....but was 400+ within ~30 games. Your current rating is 400, with a great deal of losses since you started up this account at 800. If your relatives knew how to play chess (by your account, they knew enough to teach you something), I doubt that you would have a winning record against them.--

I remember what it was like being 900 rapid; you aren't there.--

With the accuracies on your previous account you wouldn't have been "assisted", it would have been someone else playing FOR you.....but I doubt the existence of this "friend".

You need to apologize, because your actions were wrong (and this post further demonstrates it). You don't look like you're cheating so far, so I won't report you at the time.

I've probably spent more time observing your new account than I should....probably would be more productive if i spent that time studying chess, as games at 400 level are not going to be particularly thought-provoking for me or for most if not all of the people who commented on your previous thread.

Bro he’s returned! Oh the sequel will be glorious! I hope you’ve learned your lesson and will stop using stockfish from now on. My advice is that you just treat chess as something to enjoy. Don’t get so het up on elo, just play for fun. Then you won’t feel the need to cheat.

Had to see how it continued. Also - he’s already cheating again…

Bro was banned for cheating, given a second chance, and immediately pulls this:

ice_cream_cake

Oh I didn't even bother to make analysis reports. I just saw a lot of losses and a lot of blunders in those losses. (This is not an insult, my games are full of blunders too.)

Yep but I’ve gotten wise to him. He somehow thinks the anti cheating algorithm will be fooled if he plays a load of non cheating games after cheating.

The quality difference of these games is immense. ALSO if we needed more proof he’s a liar - he says he’s learned openings from YouTube, but, curiously, in the games he loses he doesn’t play opening theory! Incredible
ice_cream_cake

The story was obviously full of untruths, but I'm surprised that a player of this person's level knows the term "opening theory". I didn't know that word at 800 even, but maybe that's an effect of the chess boom.

Love this breakdown

ice_cream_cake

If i'm not mistaken, the 2806 rapid rating was a direct transfer from GYG's bullet rating at that time. Afterwards, GYG played 22 rated games against players so much lower rated that he didn't gain any rating points from them. In particular, the highest rated win was 1339.

My rapid rating is not accurate, it's a provisional rating based on only 22 games and all against much weaker players. My blitz and bullet ratings are much lower and reflect my real ability.

Yeah, this is what happened.

Don’t worry I’m not accusing you of cheating haha - your bullet games are impressive man. I’m just genuinely wondering why you haven’t pursued fide titles? If I had your talent I would.

I wondered the exact same thing!

Because it's much more fun being the super strong untitled player rather than some mediocre CM tongue.

Also, my style is really not suited for classical, I play complete garbage that only works in speed chess, I think if I played OTB I would be at least 400 points weaker than online, maybe more.
