i had only taken 3 pawns when I mated him, he had my bishop and rook pairs...

Ehm... The fact that you were 2 bishops and 2 rooks down by move 18 suggests a pretty serious problem. That's almost a pawn PER MOVE! Good that you won, great steal, but you're not likely to get away with that again!

ofc not it was a while ago now but im pretty sure i was just playing casually while watching a movie with family so when i made a move after a couple seconds of analyzing my position it tended to be a blunder lol

Still, what's actually kinda sad is that this is the saddest game you've ever seen.  Just look around here for about 5 minutes...

I don't understand this...

You post a poorly played game in "Game Showcase"  What exactly are you "Show Casing?"  How not to play chess?  How poorly you both played? Bragging rights?

Well this goes to tell you, the pieces you never develop and never use, you might as well consider yourself to be down by.  Sure, he's up a whole bunch of pieces, but he never used them for anything.  He seriously moved 3 pieces the whole game, and only 2 of them are really developed at the end.  Even though you only have 3 pieces, they're all developed, so you have the advantage until he gets more pieces out.

But really this game shows you how not to play.  White shows you how to lose all your pieces, and black shows you how to not develop any pieces.  It can teach you some good tricks to make sure you avoid ever doing if you want to be good.
