You probably do not want to use any Microsoft made web browser, if you use firefox, opera or chrome keep them updated, disable flash, and go thought the setting, also you can blacklist sites in any modern browser. If there is problem or sluggish reaction from chess.com side, you still have tools to protect yourself. You also can use ad-blocker plugin in last resort. The last one will probably get censored ( :
This site is infected

The strange thing is that all ads on chess.com are served by AdChoices or Chess.com (membership nagging), so as unlikely malicious ads can only be, it would be better to report them directly to advertising platform. Scrap that there are some others apart of AdChoices sometimes.

I have anti-virus and ad block so I can't relate to those kinds of problems lol.
There are people who are good at chess and there are victims of online scams, life is strange.

Is the V2 site still offering the Chess.com Toolbar? Last I checked, it apparently bundled in the Trovi/Conduit browser hijacker. hahahahaha...

The many weird sites the site tries to open when I'm in the forum I always reject.
But to the thread opener: Why don't you just remove your malware first, then we'll see!

#1 it is not the site it is your computer. Go and get adwcleaner. This will find all the malware on your computer that is taking you to other sites.

But maybe the problem is from another kind. A while ago some user here was complaining about porn advertising on the chess.com site. Later it turned out (or at least one was thinking that) that the guy was checking porn-sites regularly and the ads were just adapting to his beloved topics.

AdwCleaner is the most popular download on Bleepingcomputer.com.

Oh, I remember when Conduit hijacked my IE6...When I was young and ignorant...

Sorry it is the site - I have Malware Bytes - Adcleaner Trend Antivirus nothing shows up in any scans and its totally up to date. Im using Google Chrome - I have an email from Chess . com telling me the developers are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it. The problem only exists on Chess.com and nowhere else. Thanks for your help but i know what to do about it and im not going to get scammed - I Posted the message to stop anyone else from being so.

And there you have it.. below direct from support.
Thank you for writing in! The programmers are aware of this situation and are working hard to remedy this!
In the meantime, here is a good program to download and run, it will detect and remove any malware that may have been added to your device. :)
Thank you so much for letting us know!

I haven't had any links redirect me, although there are many parts of the site I never visit. Could you please mention whether you're on V3 or V2 and please supply one or two of these suspect links so I can try them out? (Just label them as "Possibly malware links, try at your own risk"). Or, if you're uneasy about posting the links, just send the links to me via PM, and I'll assume the risk.

Sorry Just home from work no problems ill get the links and images.
They are very clever all of them Survey Links and they appear to be courtesy of chess youd think they were bonafide. One of them is a BT Branded link however there is very small print at the bottom of the page that says the survey is not endorsed in any way by the names of the vendors show or displayed. You are encouraged to respond to the online survey in return for prizes and items that will be sent to you. From there you have to agree to the terms and conditions of the site and survey hosts whereby they will send you things that they later Invoice you for at astronomical prices, however you have already accepted the terms and conditions simply by virtue of hitting a number of accept buttons they dot around the screen.
I found hundreds of people who have posted different forums in response the fact that they were being harassed and pursued for hundreds of pounds that they have agreed to pay, many of them very worried having received solicitors letters and other threatening demands.
Its really very very nasty stuff.
The site is infected by a bug that directs players to scam sites.
Pleas be aware of this issue, do not follow the links they look genuine however the web is full of posts that explain what the scammers are doing it is linked to a PC hijack fraud scam.
The Chess site knows about this but are slow to do anything about it and im fed up of the redirects.
