I'm not shure what kind of tie-break you have in the UK, but (most of) the ones in america are like this.
note: this does not happen in round robbins
you get tie-break points for who you play so if a person rated 965 played someone rated 1529 the 965 person would get a certain number of tiebreaker points (that number is decided by how many players there are in the tournament and what thier ratings are) this number will not be different if the 965 player wins draws or loses. the tie-breaker points are added up and if that player is in a tie-breaker the one with higest tie breaker points wins. If the two people have the same tie-breaker points (wich rarly happens) they are put through a diffrent tie-breaker.
this all is done by the computer in les than .14 seconds
I'm playing in the Tony Miles Memorial Tournament, but can't get my head round the Tie Break scoring system. Very weird.
