time on one minute games

Just played another game on one minute and watched my opponents time drop to 2 secs then back to 5 then 2 then back to five etc until mine ran out and I was beaten ?
Compensation for lag
Please explain in greater detail? First chess site I have joined and it has only started happening in the last four or five days ?

i think when ever u make a move, u gain more time
What likely happened is that you had a brief disconnect and the server may not have received your move.
The server is the keeper of the accurate time. With the lag compensation algorithms the times on the clients may not be accurate. That is why you may occasionally see clocks adjusted in games, even without increments.
