They were likely on vacation mode previously. When going on or getting placed on vacation 24 hours are deducted from the vacation bank. If the player comes off vacation before that 24 hours has elapsed the difference is added to the available time on games where they are in the move, excluding games in no vacation tournaments.

This game has finally come to an end. I stopped playing daily because of this particular player. He has no respect for fair play, abusing the vacation feature. In the end, I only won because I refused to give up, while he let the time run out. It was essentially a 60-day 'vacation'...
