Timeouts

Hi guys, I’m a new chess player and I’ve been winning some of my most recent matches by timeouts...what’s the best method to change this? What can I do in order to attack my opponents pieces?

Many thanks!

Learn the basics I guess? Like pinning(knowing pin helped me a lot when I was beginning chess). Other than the basics, I repeatedly play one opening(which when i was a total beginner I played Nf6), I get used to it and it helped. And also, remember king’s safety when attacking.

To attack your opponent pieces, well, it depends on what kind of player you are. Perhaps playing defensive whole game waiting for enemy to make mistake or if your position became advantegous, maybe trading pieces for better position for end game(double pawn is pretty harsh for end game), or perhaps knowing how to sacrifice pieces with ulterior motive. It depends really, I think it just rely on personal style.

Basically, try random opening and see which suits your style, play a lot to gain experience (you’ll get a hang of it after losing a lot, least that’s how I started chess), don’t be afraid on experimenting moves(like trying some daring move. As we all know, Edison didn’t make the lightbulb without failing a lot of times.), lastly have fun (call me Mr. Obvious). I hope this helps!

Here r my 7 basic rules to play by for beginners: #1 Protect ur king. #2 Backup ur Queen whenever possible. #3 Look over entire board before moving. #4 See what will happen to ur pieces after u make a move.#5 Watch what your opponent is attempting to do after he/she moves. #6 Don’t fall into playing to fast like ur opponent is doing. And#7 If u fall behind be patient and usually ur opponent will make a mistake. Thanks
