Tips on 1700 rating range?

Soo, I have been playing and I'm dropping in and out of the 1700 rating range. I'm satisfied with my improvement so far, but I don't know what to study right now. Strategy has helped me a lot wth organizing plans successfully, but I don't know how I should actually improve my practical play. There are many positions in which I don't know what to do, and this frustrates me. I'm also getting involved with classical chess, and I would like to know how I could improve my general abilities now. Is there any good online source or recommended books for me? Should I drop studying strategy so I can focus only on tactics until I reach a higher level? I'm kind of confused.

I got stuck in the 1700s before. Took a hood while to get out of that. I had to develop a decent opening repertoire, and continue doing tactics puzzles. Eventually I got out of it. And you can too.

Start honing a repertoire.

Use a database for this, and begin looking at grandmaster games (if you aren't already), especially those that align with your repertoire.

You'll discover a lot of ideas and themes that you would not have thought of yourself.

It also gives you the opportunity to ask yourself why such moves have been made.

Combine this with your usual self-analysis of every game you play, and you'll improve much faster than the players who only play and analyze, without additional study  ...
