tips to inprove quick

I currently have a rating of 868 in 30 min chess. ( im preety bad) since summer started yesterday i think its the perfect time to inprove. My goal is to get to 1150 by the end of the summer. Any tips for getting there?

I have no idea how you can inprove quick...or even quickly, for that matter.

There are several ways you can improve. At you level I'd suggest playing lots of games and tactics. The current key to improving is tactics and playing. Once you stop blundering pieces several times a game you reach the next  level. At this point you need to learn a basic opening (or a system). Don't spend much time on this tip! Openings are dangerous to study to much, especially before your 1800. Something that's key is learning the basics about endings (rook endgame principles, opposition, simple king pawn endgames ect.) and continue your tactics. Study master games, read the chess.com articles and news posts, try to learn a couple positional ideas from them. Chessbase is also a valuable place to go to. btw I think that the chess.com articles are crimially underrated. Again tactics are key, endgames are key, and positional ideas are key. Openings can be valuable to know once you reach a strong tactical level.

Oh yeah also play lots and lots and lots of chess games 30 minutes or later. There are a few valuable teams to join. The Dan Heisman Learning Centre and the Slow Live Chess Association. They are good places to get a good opponent in 45+45 and 90+30 games.
