Tips to reach 2000

I am far from 2000 but I usually suggest to win more and to lose less if you want to increase your rating, it should work for any initial rating

Do you think that "Never let your opponent know your next move" is reasonable advice? It's complete nonsense.

Besides, the guy is a known troll who was banned for trolling. But of course, on this website banned trolls can come back with another account and continue trolling, and the moderators do nothing.

if you actually didn't let your opponent know your next move, they wouldn't premove and make you lose time. And you would have a higher rating. "Never let the opponent know your next move" makes complete sense and is not dumb. It is a basic way of thinking. Or, you could say, Never let your opponent know your plan. Its basically the same. Magipi, now you're sounding like a troller.

What are you talking about, dude? What you say is also complete nonsense.

How could the opponent know my next move? Even I don't know my next move because it depends on what the opponent moves first.

Also, how could your opponent know your next move? With telepathy? And how could you stop that? These things have nothing to do with chess.

It does make sense. Play moves that surprise your opponents. @Magipi, right now you are the troller. Everyone says that you are not right. Let me give you an example: If you are going on the highway, and everyone is going in the opposite direction, who is in the right direction? You or them?

Agreed, I always see this guy attacking others for totally random reasons like calling them bad at chess or calling others trolls he needs to be muted to learn a lesson

Yes, yes, you should totally encourage the banned troll to report others. Good move.

Always take En Passant. Even if it isn't the best move, if you study en passant you can have an advantage over your opponent. The more you En Passant, the more familiar you will be with en passant positions over your opponent. I always take En Passant even if it puts me in a worse position and it works out great for me.

ok i lowk feel a bit guilty for this thread
so like if u don't mind, lemme offer u some sound advice
1. Access chess books. Silman's books are a great place to start (author passed away so there are no ethical concerns either with simply pirating it)
How to Reassess Your Chess and Silman's Endgame Course are both great starting books. The first one is what i read when i was 11-12, and it really propelled my chess by verifying and teaching me new things
2. Avoid getting addicted to fast time controls. When seriously playing, always do rapid.
3. At your level, avoid getting suckered into knowing detailed opening lines. Below 2000, people deviate fast. Favor general concepts.
4. Analyze your games, and find out why things went wrong. What principles were you lacking in? Did you play too fast? Not consider better moves? Neglected something? Created a weakness?
feel free to dm me if u have any questions! best of luck in ur chess journey!!

Zahavens

@sicillianswiftie thanks for taking it seriously, much appreciated, and good luck to you too!
