If you come out on the bottom because you decided to be the "nice guy", you may regret it... would your Win-Hungry opponent sitting across from you extend the same "etiquette" toward YOU if your positions are reveresed? If I am playing, it is to win, not be the nice guy. If it comes down to a situation like this, it is very unfortunate, but if I can gain a clear advantage, and remain perfectly within the rules, sorry guys...Its nothing personal... its just business. And my business is to WIN.... meh, just my thoughts on the question.

On odd situation has arisen in a tournament that I'm playing in. Two people advance from the group I'm in (and there are no tiebreaks). I'm leading the group with six points and three people share second spot with four points. The only remaining game is between me and one of those tied for second.
As it's a friendly tournament then I intend to play every game to win but it would probably be more advantageous to me if I resigned the game immediately, eliminating the two other opponents whose games have all been completed.
What would you do in this situation and is it considered poor form to give yourself an advantage by deliberately losing a game?
Also, do you own any nice hats?
