training help.
You're going to get a lot of good books to buy. To start you only need one. My choice is "Learn Chess-A Complete Course" by Alexander and Beach. This will give you all the basic knowledge you need. Read the review on Amazon.com. When you finish this book, then go on to more advanced texts. Also go to ChessGames.com and play over Paul Morphy's games.
to start off. 1) I love chess 2) i stink
I enjoy reading chess books. I enjoy puzzels and endgame study. I've taken elo test that say I'm around 1400. But I play in the 900 range.
How do you suggest I continue studying? Should I lay off the books/endgame and just be playing more games? Study harder and play more games?
Do you think that I should start some opening study at this point.
Any book to recommend for the 900 range. I find most my books are intended for much higher ratings and while i enjoy them I'm not sure they are doing me much good.
Ps. please don't worry about making the list too big. I really do find this enjoyable. I will most like never get a fide rating so the rating is not that important I just want to improve.
Thanks
