rmanthony,

An internet "troll" is someone who posts inflamatory, nonsensical, comedic, or unintelligable content on a forum for the sole purpose of getting reactions and having a large number of people reply to their posts.

Basically, 3/4 of the members on most internet forums! happy.png

Why do people comment on threads that have been inactive for more than a month?

Troll: a mythical, cave-dwelling being depicted in folklore as either a giant or a dwarf, typically having a very ugly appearance.

Trolls on the Internet generally are mean-spirited and try to provoke and even hurt people. I think there is a big difference between people who like to use humor in online conversations, and people whose intention is  to hurt other people. Of course, anytime anyone uses humor, there are certain overly serious, sensitive people who cry a lot and take offense at everything. I love humor, although I realize sometimes my humor falls flat. If I couldn't laugh at myself, I'd get depressed and start posting crazy stuff about having mental meltdowns over my lack of progress in chess, when it's really just a game.
