Trying to use SCID openings trainer (need repertoire database?)

Sort:
JackOfAllHobbies

I just want to play openings and see my errors.

I have SCID 4.5.2 installed

I selected on menu    Play -> training -> openings

I get an error that says "Open first a repertoire database with icon/type set to the right side"

What does that mean?

Yes, you certainly seem to be one.

No one here uses SCID to practice openings??

MrEdCollins

The repertoire database feature was reported as "broken" more than two years ago.  I doubt if it's ever been fixed.

Yeah i've never been able to get it to work.  I usually just use the tree window to look at my database to work on my opening knowledge.

Is there a free way I can practice openings?

What are good pay options?

Doc_Detroit

I just started using the "Perfect Chess Trainer" app. $6 and well worth it. Give the free version a try. I'm on android; not sure if it is available for iPhone.

I'll check it out
