Turn Based stats - wheres the draws?

Somewhere here on chess.com I saw stats of all the turn-based games that have taken place, and it said only 2% of the games played were drawn... Maybe I misunderstood something, cause I can't find where I saw those stats now.

But if thats true, why are so many games in real life (club/tournament matches) drawn yet you hardly see any draws on this site??

Any ideas what the differance would be?

what i find is, if it comes down to a few pieces left and your getting chased around the board aimlessly, my pc chess game woulda called it a draw, but it just seems to let it ride on in here when it'd be stale mate or whatever normally.

thats my input,  im probably well off the mark though.

Generally speaking, the higher the ability level the more draws you tend to see.  Between relative beginners, there are more mistakes and a draw is a less likely outcome.

Yes, one reason would have to be the majority of novices playing here.

Another reason, I think, is that draws are simply less common in correspondence. In cc, you have time to work out all the variations. I know that I am much more keen to offer or accept a draw over the board when I am not sure about my calculation. There are no such insecurities with an analysis board. I think that many more chess games should objectively be decisive than we might suspect.
