Chess and Music!?
What a weird combo to be talking about today.
What do they have in common? Do they really translate into each other?
YES
Firstly, let's talk about how they are even related! Let's GO!
The Relationship between Chess and Music
Let's start with our familiar battleground, the chessboard. It has Files and Rank denoted with Letters (a,b,c) and Numbers (1,2,3). These little rascals don't seem very important when you start playing chess but become more and more involved with you as you climb the chess ladder and soon you'll find yourself talking in this strange language and people will start giving you weird looks...
Ok... and Music? Their are many different ways to express what pitches and frequencies to sing or play for example Do Re Mi etc, which is called the Tonic Solfa Notation or a much simpler notation a.k.a the Modern Staff Notation uses letters (a,b,c) and a few symbols (b,#,8 etc). There are definitely more than 7 pitches we can sing which is why we also add numbers (1,2,3) to show the pitch. (As soon as we add numbers it becomes the scientific pitch notation.) 1 is the lowest and uh... it doesn't actually have a limit. (technically 0 is the lowest).
Although modern scales have 7 letters, A - G, ancient notations actually doubled the A with an H.
The Correlation
I'm sure many of you can already see the correlation between Chess Notation and Music Notation. Letters and Numbers can transfer from the chess board into sheet music. For example c4 is the 'middle c' on a Piano. We won't care about which piece moves, just the destination square.
Example
Let's take a recent game of mine and see what happens.
You don't have to be a musician to see that is a complete mess and wouldn't sound very nice.

What now?
We can remove the numbers so our notes are closer together and also add some variation to the lengths of the notes.
How about this, Captures are eighth notes, Checks are half notes and Checkmate is a full note. Checks and captures override captures. Castling are rests (no note).
I was also add some bass to make it sound cooler!
Let's try again!
With some added artistic license, I have turned my game into Music!
You can listen to it here -> https://musescore.com/user/30334970/scores/19888330
You can download the free music software to try it for yourself here -> https://musescore.org/en/download
I might make some more music if you submit your games below!
