I have lost three chess games in a row.

That didn't do my ratings any good. It went down to 1565 but I won one and it went up to 1574. I have to get back up to 1600 to get closer to my goal.

My bowling is doing great. I came in second in a tournament and I made some money. I am consistantly bowling over my average so that is encouraging. I wish I could knock all the pins down when I hit the one-three pocket, but I leave the 10 pin still there looking at me.

It seems that I can't generate more speed probably because I am too old. 76 Is old, I don't feel that old. I'm bowling in four bowling leagues every week.

It's all in my head.

As Far as my cooking. I know this is off topic, but even you have to eat also. I can't seem to get started. I keep eating out. I don't want to cook just for one. I got to find a woman so I can cook for two. Or maybe we can both cook for two.

And I just think it's awful that people go to jail and pay fines for such a thing. I just read an article about a person who his serving life in prison for three pot offenses! That's not justice.

Meanwhile on Wall ST bankers engage in legalized theft and take money out of the economy just to sit in offshore accounts so they don't pay what they owe society especially since they're just about the only ones who actually benefit from America's wealth worship society.

Lol teachers making five digit incomes while Bill O'Reilly has an eight figure salary.  No hypocrisy with him complaining about teachers and public workers making "too much" now is there?

I say legalize pot just because it's victimless and it being illegal causes far more problems than it "solves" anyway.  The economy blows and the poor have no hope of class mobility in America due to how vastly overpriced college is and are priced out of many hobbies so yeah, pot is all some people might have and at least they aren't on crack.

O'Reilly... your example was a history teacher

and secondly, good going Denver on Bowling. maybe you could try to lengthen your approach to generate Momentum. and what is the wieght of the ball you use?

Hi Jetfighter:  I have three 15 lbs bowling balls, all are reactive resin with diamond particles, they are "Legends" all of them react different on the lanes.

I have two 14 lbs. Pro balls and one is pearlized. They cost about $200 each. My bench mark golden "Yeah Baby" was given to me by the owner of the "Legends" company.

All are Custom drilled with finger tip finger inserts. The thumb is drilled "thumb shape."

I have a Black 13 lb plastic ball only to pick up the 10 pins because plastic skid on oil.

Tonight Monday I went bowling in one of my leagues. the team average is 1010 for five men.

I had a good night tonight, first game 213, the second game 228 and the 3rd game was 247 for a 688 total series. I averaged 229 for the night.

It was a great night. I used my "Yeah Bady" bowling ball and didn't make a ball change the whole night. I was by no means the highest bowler. There were 2 300 games rolled and a 287.

I probably only missed the bowling pocket three times the whole night. I only had three open frames. Two in the first game and one in the second. None in the third game.

I attribute tonight performance to a silly tune I was humming as I started my approach and I took the steps and the release stroke in time to the tune. It was the "The blue Danube" the second part. It made me focus and I let the ball swing three times before starting my delivery. It made my timing excellent so the release was the best I had done in quite a while.

When I got into my car to go home "the blue danube" was playing on my CD continously. I just love that tune. I had driven to the lanes with that song playing repeatedly. I will try that again next Wednesdy when I bowl again.

I hope I didn't overwhelmed too many of you. Thanks for the question. My new year resolution as far as bowling is looking very good. When I joined this league my average was 172 my current average right now is 181.

OK I was going to suggest something akin to that.... Wow that's a lot of info. I have a 12 pound spare ball plastic of course... And a 14 pound resin ball

I tend to do better on medium oil conditions so about midway through a night I'll roll my best game of the session. But with my new shoes I've had to slow my approach down which was generating most of my velocity and had to change my swing a tiny bit

I understand that you use it to relax just like Bobby Fischer did. He always bowled by himself. When he traveled to a match he would look for a bowling center so he could relax.

Yeah I'm far from a pro, but being able to rip a 200 whenever you want is fun

Also my equipment is a 14 pound strike king by bruswic and a plastic ball for my spares typically 3-10 splits and single pin leaves though anything else it depends on what happened

If you join a bowling league I would suggest a short entry level league. They have them and they are only 12 to 15 weeks long. Of course if you don't show up any week you still have to pay.

The fee includes bowling fees, prize fund and secretary fee. So when you win a game you win their money which you get at the end of the league.

Actually if you join now any league they only have about 15 weeks to go. So ask if you can fill in a league because someone always get a sickness and quits or dies.

I want to finish my reading list seriously.  School of Chess Excellence 2: Tactical Play, Secrets of Pawn Endings, Survival Guide to Rook Endings, Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual, Aagard's Practical Chess Defence, McDonald's Positional Sacrifices, and Bo Hansen's Secrets of Endgame Strategy are on my current list.

I have 3 resolutions:

1) To play at least 20 fide rated games

2) To have at least one rating performance of at least 2050 (I have already made a 1900+ performance)

3) To study carefully the chess books that I already own (I usually just try to follow the lines in my head, instead of using a chess set).

You only have 120 more to make 2350. How does it feel to be that high up there?

That is quite a list you have. You might know that just reading a book doesn't mean you learned it all. The way to learn the material is. to "PLAY THE BOOK" on a board.

Good luck on finishing them all. I never seen any of them.

Are your resolutions attainable? Realistic?

The first one: Just get into tournaments or a league team.

The second one: I don't know what a performance is? Good luck on that.

The third one: Most people make the mistake and try using their head only, but that is not the best method. Try using a actual chess board and pieces. Play the book no matter how easy the example is. That the way to get the best from the material.

Best of luck to you.

Then I got married. She didn't like bowling. So, we took up golf. We have been living happily ever after.

The best about bowling is that you never lose your ball like in golf.

Next to our Bowling center there is a Golf course. Yearly we have a Golf and Bowling, barbecue tournament. Cost about $120.00 to play in it. You play golf first by then most every body is drunk and they bowl two games of No tap. Finally the barbecue and distribute the money prizes more drinking.

Oh yeah. They just put a Soccer Golf on the outside edges of the Golf course. You use a regular soccer ball and play using the golf rules. Each hole has a flag inserted on a cover on the hole. When soccer putting the ball goes into a large plastic hole the size for a soccer ball. When done with that hole they cover it.

They never lose a ball and they don't lose it in the rough.
