Typical Time?

I'm new to chess and just bought Chessmaster. It sets up the default game with 5 minute Fischer style timing. Is this typical of what is normally seen? I tend to run out of time with only 5 minutes.

Best thing to do is set computer to 5 mins and you to 30.  This compensates for the computers processing power.  5 mins to make all your moves is way too short for a 'new to chess' person.
