USCF Rating Survey

1. Post your:

-USCF OTB Rating

-Chess.com "long" rating AND what time setting you typically play (e.g. 30 / 0)

-hours of deliberate chess study (tactics, books, reading articles / blogs, etc) that you put in per week. Playing games do not count as deliberate study.

-number of WEEKS (not years, not months) that you have been studying. If you do not put weeks, please at least put years + months and I will calculate it for you...but it's easier on me if I have all responders do that individually :)

If you cannot answer ALL of those components above, I will not consider your response!

2. If you have any of the following additional scores then please post them as well:

-Chess.com blitz rating

-USCF correspondence AND Chess.com correspondence rating (only post them BOTH)

3. (Optional) Post your age group (e.g. 20 - 30 years, 40-50 years or exact age if you care to) AND at what age you learned how to play chess.

Dont just look at the general wrongness of the ratings my suggestion is look for someone that you beat and look at their complete profile.  You then look at you score and how you beat them. Do this for the top five people that you beat on anyplace on this site.  Do this till you get five with ratings.  Then take them add them together and divide by 5.  Then subtract 25 and you should be within the ballpark of where you want to play.

J_Piper

According to your formula, I added the top five true wins. (minus the top ones I won on time) I did your sequence and got an average after dividing 5 and substracting 25, and got 1670.2.  My rating is 1683, so then it is fairly consistent although I have some games that would further this.

That's great, thanks for sharing that.

Again please take what i said with a grain of salt and dont use this to get you rating zeroed in it should, as I said put you into the ballpark socket. No pun intended.  This should put you into a class if you have an online tournement, but dont use this for OTB tourneys.  To do this you should play LONG live chess games 15 min+ if you take this seriously and have a level rating use that or take you correspondence and subtract about 200 pts. That should land you again on the safe shores of competability.  I would say that you are going to have about a 1483 USCF rating when you play OTB and if you dont believe me look at the people above you.
