you can use the the notes while using the analysis board or on your own board, I don't use it , I write it down in my pad, some people prefer to put in in their notepad from their computer.
What I do is write down the canditate moves and branch them out and see which come out best, if you are stuck u could always come back to it later.
Using The Note Feature
That is a great thought. Thanks! It's amazing how many obvious things I don't do and have to learn here. That is another great thing about this site, the wealth of things I learn here.
BTW ...whatever you do don't forget to save your notes before going into the next game ! can't imagained the worst thing is that you done all the hard work in your note and then go into the next game without saving it, is won't be there when u come back to it !!
Hey kco, I learned that lesson the hard way. I also had to keep careful notes. I looked back at an early game and the notes were hard to understand which is funny considering I wrote them the previous month. Thanks for the input!!

That's not the most annoying thing... sometimes the messages on my game look like this (taken from an actual game):
NotKasparov: consider responding to Ne4 with f5.
NotKasparov: uh oh...
NotKasparov: I've got to distinguish between my notes and my messages
NotKasparov: well, I don't think I'm playing that line anyway
That's Great NotKasparov. I know exactly what you mean. LOL! I once put note from one game into another game's note section. I forgot I was on to the next game and when I went back to read them a month later It was "what the hell?" time!
is seem to me alots of the peoples here are just playing and thinking but missing out the beauty of writing !
Well put kco. It's true. I am 48 years old and growing up we did a lot of writing since personal computers once cost $5-10,000.00. Even with the advent of cheap computers people still don't do as much writing as we used to. Oh great, I sound like my father: "When I was a boy we wrote on stone with dinosaur bones dipped in Wooly Mammoth blood....."

Most of you probably do this already but being the technological turtle that I am, only started using this feature in the last three months. The Notes window. I have been using it to keep notes regarding my strategies and tactics. It is interesting to be able to go back and see what worked and what didn't. It's amazing how many bright ideas I have had back fired and left me scrambling. It's really helped me learn from my own games. Can anyone else tell me about how they use the notes?
