I do play them with several groups/teams but the participation isn't quite the same.

I don't like vote chess, especially when there are a lot of people.
It's a great way to improve your game and learn to see how others see the game. I use it as a learning tool. Also I am a very impulsive player and tend to move too quickly, so in vote chess I like the discussion about what the next move should be and why. I never vote right away in the vote chess games.
Someone start a new Bishops vs. Knights vote chess game. That one was the first vote chess game I played and I really enjoyed it.
