Whenever I find that I need to wait, I have to fight off my natural tendency to make an aggressive move. If I can stay disciplined enough, I look to improve my worst positioned piece (or pawn). If nothing there, I look for a piece that I can harmlessly shuffle.
What do you do when you have to play a waiting move?
