Was Judit Polgar, in her prime, on the same level as Garry Kasparov

was she seen as being as good as Gary?

didn't watch chess during the 90s

She's extremely far away from Magnus Carlsen.

She beat him before though

Amazing feat to in the 2700 club. I would be happy with being 1800.

She was in the "Club" of elite GMs, but Garry was a level above the rest of the club. But Judit was widely admired not just for her absolute strength, but also for her fiery tactical brilliance. She loved to attack!

Well I believe Kasparov had a bad record against Judith polar she lost once in a tournament against her and then there was that famous hand touching his piece and moving another denying of course he had touched it!?🙄🤔 in her prime she could beat anyone and I believe the only female to obtain her G.M norm by competing against men choosing not to enter ladies events and think she gained a lot of respect from the men too and so she should👍

Yes, Judit Polgár was indeed a top-ten ranked player in classical chess, reaching a peak ranking of world No. 8 in January 2004 and again later that year. As the only woman to break into the top 10, she maintained an elite level for over a decade, achieving a peak rating of 2735 in 2005.

From watching the Polgar documentary I realised Kasparov was on another level completely. Bro won like 12 in a row against her, right?

No she wasn't. But she was very strong and next tier down. Nigel Short seemed like he was on the same level as Kasparov regarding the positions he was getting against K but then he lost them instead of winning. Intense pressure long term in their world championship match.
