It is completely fine if people just play chess for fun. Because the sad thing is that all of us chess players here will lose money from chess. Yet, I strongly believe chess improves you mental capability, displine, and common sense. Chess is also a way to have fun in your free time.

If "borat" is going to criticize other players for not improving, then he should be open to improvement for his poor English skills. 

You weren't trying to help him improve, you were just attacking him for making mistakes. For all you know he has been improving. Do you know how well he spoke English a year ago?

I, for one, think its Awesome that the OP writes so much in english when obviously it is not a native language.  any native english writer who thinks thats easy, has clearly not tried it!

depending on how you count time, though, perhaps I am one of those old fogies that should be much higher.   I have hopes to increase my rating, yes.. but its easier said than done and much much easier at 15 than 40.

instead I prefer to think that chess Improvement is always possible, but that lifting your rating at any given time control - is not.

its true that some people don't try so hard.   I never felt that vibe was bad in any way.   I am now training as I never had in my life, but who knows how far it will take me?  its not healty to obsess over that IMHO.

I understand 99 % of anything what is written here. I use internet a lot and thats the only reason I am able to to communicate in english. Never mind, my language is too hard for studying, but I learned all this about english just using internet for a year ;) Do you get the point ? English is an easy language...too easy--try to study bosnian, croatian or serbian ;) or chinese hahaahah
