Wesley So resigned after 6 moves

I am sick and tired of people coming to America thinking they have rights Americans don't.  Oh I have rich parents therefore I can weasel my way into an expensive school, get top training, leave school, and become champion of a bigger country.

Carlsen is not doing that.  Carlsen is not leaving Norway.  Carlsen is not using other countries as a stepping stone.  Has he even considered training in Russia giving up the Norwegian flag?

You can't win the challenge I posted with the photos.

Do you feel So is stealing the spot that could be yours one day? Or if millions of him come, there will be nothing left for you?

Do you feel this is not fair?

That says a lot about more about you than it does me.  I am just comparing how money talks in America overall (sports, science, technology, etc...), not making a chess specific statement.

To address the underlying tone of your reply, I am quite lucky my dad took me to summer camps, baseball and soccer practice, and music lessons instead of pushing chess on me.  I had a childhood, I can't say the same of Wesley right now.  Looking into his history, there are "unhealthy" events which could explain how he is behaving now.

He needs to learn English better if he is going to cover up his deceptive persona.  He is faking dumb.  He is accusing Akobian of only wanting the win.  Well, the spouse that accuses the other of cheating is usually the one who is actually cheating.

He was surprised Americans wanted to win?  Come on, he is pretending to not know chess or the point of it.  When he plays Carlsen and has the same positions he lost to, Carlsen isn't going to go for the win too?

He has a Scott Peterson pathological stance when answering questions.  If you want to be his groupie, join the millions of his fans.  I don't know what you mean by millions of him.  I would rather see millions of Nakamuras instead.  At least Nakamura understands the rules and doesn't accuse others when family issues come up.  He even has a stepfather who came to the last Zurich tournament.

Right now, Wesley So feels alone because he was alone as a child.  He only knows of himself.  When he reaches the upper rung of GMs he will see Carlsen and his dad and see himself without a dad.  This is grinding at his conscience.  He is now fighting to deny it in order to focus on chess.  Well, marry someone, make your own family.  Then the focus will deteriorate and he will never become world champion.  He will fade off into the sunset like a number 2 Aronian without a personality.

No, millions of him won't come.  But a million of groupies will be cheering his accomplishments, not knowing what is deep inside.  This isn't going to be the first fiasco for him.  Kramnik simply had health issues, So has mental ones.

Let's see if Akobian and Wesley So shake hands next time they play.  If anything this is a good experience for me as I know now what character of a man both of them are.

tigerprowl9

I am guessing the second complaint at the Shankland game got him concerned, knowing that Akobian was part of the appeals committee.

Even though Akobian had to recuse himself, what is the point?  That is like Yoda saying, "I feel a disturbance in the force, but I'll let the rest of the council vote on it instead."

vkappag

apparently the rating points appeal was overturned.

Assuming he wins tomorrow, he will probably only be down 10 points from his highest.

Who knows what will happen at Shamkir 2015, but hopefully he'll play some interesting chess

Greasedlightnin

Can't believe chessplayers are such floozies to take offense at someone writing dopey notes.

Must be very difficult for Akobian to tolerate opponents writing their moves on the scoresheet also.

Guess there was only one way he was going to avoid the loss.

God bless the American dream.

tigerprowl9

"Guess there was only one way he was going to avoid the loss."

If you want to explore this conspiracy theory further, does the US team want Wesley So to play in 2015?  My colleagues and I are trying to get update information if So can represent the US in a team event like "boggle head" Nakamura and "eagle eyes" Shankland.

God bless the American dream, God bless Anish Giri not trying to win too.  Touche dutch door.  Your logic swings both ways.

Greasedlightnin

Hey tigerprowl, are you some sort of dweeby Internet tough guy ?

That was some pathetic post man!

That is a political warning.  That's like a sanction being in place but you are not fined.

So Wesley knows what he did was wrong.  But he also knows it doesn't matter.  As long as his rating goes up, like Carlsen's did, he can then qualify.

No one is going to remember him for this debacle 20 years from now.  He is acting like a typical lying politician.

LOL, I don't fight in person or online.  So, I decline your offer.

Right now, Anish Giri and Weasel So are not world champions.

Greasedlightnin

that's two in a row, you're on a roll, go for it kiddo, show the world what you've got :)

It ruins the competitiveness of chess to have games decided on technicalities that have nothing to do with the actual game.

Yes and no.  Akobian wants to play chess.  Weasel So wants to win at all cost.  It's very clear.  Competitiveness is what ruins chess.  Play to play chess.  Enjoy the game.  If you have to write notes to enjoy something you like, do you really like it?

"Please sit through the whole song"

"Please watch this movie from beginning to end"

"Enjoy the taste of this meal"

"Doesn't the smell of this flower seem great?"

Let's follow Kamsky. He lost the latest game but enjoys the game.  He is not writing words of encouragement.  He is giving space for the results to happen and not trying to control them.  Wesley So is.  When he learns this, he will be more like Kamsky.

Rogue_King

Competition is what makes things exciting and brings forth true battles at the board. It directly motivates people to improve their minds and bodies to ever greater heights. When you devalue that competition as well as the hard work and discipline it inspired with bad rules, it lessens the sport.

tigerprowl9

"it lessens the sport"

Not getting along also lessens the sport, but that is a Western deficiency.

Quamvis

Wesley So is Chinese looking but he is way more articulate, polite, measured and smart than all Chinese chess players I have met. Why does China have a separate man and women chess championship? When you look at Chinese human, male and female look the same, they have the same size of breast, the have similar height, and they seemingly speak with horrible accents with offensive gestures. For Chinese panda on the other hand, male are easily distinguishable from female from their body size.

Pulpofeira

Open doors day at the asylum, I see.

Greasedlightnin

So looks Eskimo, not Chinese.

Quamvis

Dan, es un juego de palabras para esta rata rondando contaminando con sus largos postes con tonterías, dissertando sobre la deficiencia occidental.

I wasn't given a pass.  What am I missing?

kco

You don't need a pass, you're part of it.
