What are your hobbies? What are the hobbies of people with a very high IQ?

Finally, what is a great hobby to make good money?

Poledancing

Now, this is really a troll and should be deleted. Do you suggest your mother and sisters become poledancers?!?!

No, I suggest you to be a poledancer

Details please.  The bunny is interested.  Is a high IQ required or just 10k hours of practice?  Ofc neither does the bunny have nor is willing to put in.

Aside from chess, of course,  hobbies are 1) reading a huge variety of fiction from modern thrillers to Tolstoy, Dickens, and Shakespeare, 2) yard work--cutting wood, mowing, general maintenance, 3) chess, 4) going to the gym and generally staying fit, 5) crossword puzzles

The above list is in relative order of importance or amount of time spent on it, though it fluctuates seasonally. As for a hobby that makes me $$, I grow a big patch of rhubarb and sell it to a local diner in the spring. That brings in about $300-$400 depending on the weather.

I am 68, a retired English teacher, have an above average IQ, and I'm really not very good at chess. I love it, though.

Honestly, I am very disappointed by this site. I expected a lot more thoughtful comments. It just seems like most people who play chess barely makes end meet! Prove me wrong if that is not the case. How do you  guys make money? Any profitable hobby? I've heard Kasparov collects stamps but I don't know whether that is really a profitable hobby. Still waiting for serious responses.

If it's profitable, then it isn't a hobby. It's a job.

People not quite clear on the question...

I’ve read lots of forums on this topic. What usually comes up are music and reading

Running, walking, boring, sewing, playing chess, boring, reading, cooking, boring and so on ...

Cycling, chess and computer games.  I do other stuff too obviously, but listing everything one does would be very tedious.  No idea what my IQ is though, I think I only ever did some kind of IQ test once, but what they measure seems pretty spurious anyway.  Common sense is a very under-rated quality!

To judge from this site, people with very high IQs mostly sit around telling others how very high their IQs are.

Ever notice no one online has a ugly wife/girlfriend.  They never have a low paying job.  They never drive a hoopdie.  They have more friends than anyone else.  And yet...they sit online here.

And what's the point of showing off, actually? We are all anonymous profiles here.

I think the question is just a bit odd (no offense!)... we all have hobbies, but hobbies by definition are things we do for fun in our spare time. Hobbies, for most people, are not money-making activities. You ask how we all make ends meet, well I would guess that we all have jobs, and in most cases they are not related to our hobbies. Some people have jobs that align with their hobbies, and they are very lucky in my opinion.

For example, my hobbies include reading, playing chess, drawing, hiking, cooking, among other things. My career is as a teacher. Sure, I could possibly make some money with my art, but I have a job that pays decently, and so I don't need to pursue that. I just go to work, and then when I get home I relax with my hobbies. If I could get by without teaching I would.
