I used to go to quite a few chess tournaments and they were all broken down pretty much into different classes. Don't let your rating intimidate you. In the USCF if you would start out as an unrated player and probably have a good chance of winning money as a beginner depending on how they break down the classes. I had the mistaken idea you had to be a really good chess player to play in a tournament but that's not true.

I agree. Doesn't matter what your rating is you can go have a lot of fun and very likely might even cash some money because you're unrated.

I agree, the rating doesn't matter. As long as you know how to record your game moves, and if you can avoid crying or pouting if you lose a game, you're OK.

Finegold has a good lesson on transitioning between OTB and online play.

I would take time to get use to playing on a board and writing down moves, but otherwise, you are ready now.

Look up in the Calendar where and when.
https://calendar.fide.com/calendar.phtml
Go there, pay the entrance fee and play.

You can start playing OTB at any rating.

Also, officially rated tournaments aren't the only way to enjoy OTB competition.

You can also play in friendly OTB tournaments at your nearest in-person chess club. Many do it weekly.

Knowing the tournament chess rules. However, if you enter an open as a beginner you should be psychologically prepared to lose all your games, which can be demotivating. So I would prefer a tournament with players of similar strength.

There is no Elo that is a needed to play in OTB tournaments. Chess.com ratings are not very meaningful, especially for lower ratings and fast time controls. OTB ratings are much more accurate. If you want to play OTB and find your actual skill level, go ahead and play. It doesn’t matter if your Chess.com rating is 100 or 1000.
