I'm still wondering why you challenged me to that game, the other day. Just to see how bad I really am?

are you complaining about getting challanged by a titled player?  surely it would be fun to see the percision to disect your game.  besides, think of the bragging rights of "i got challenged by FM ______.  We played even for a while, but he/she was able to eventually mate me".  just don't mention that "a while" was a few book moves and that eventually was 20 moves.

wait, aren't you the one that asked how long it would take a titled player to be a novice, or something?  maybe it was just an experament.

Why didn't you message Erik for this question, woodshover? Just when I was telling everyone to have "faith" in woodshover, you turn into woodshover... This, coupled with Federer losing today, makes this THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE!Laughing

I didn't ask about a titled player beating me. When I asked that question you're talking about, I was just talking about somebody with a 1760 chess.com rating.

my mistake.  i got it mixed with the GM chess book one.  anyway, i still am not seeing a downside to playing a titled player.

I resigned after a few moves.

Avatar of planeden

didn't really think of that one.  i probably would have played on for a while just to see the magic.  of course, if he posted in the "why wont my opponent resign" i am not sure i could say "i wanted to see if i could get a stalemate".

I could easily see things were only going to get far worse, so I figured I would resign, instead of looking like an even bigger idiot.

Avatar of planeden

well, sure they were going to get worse, he's an FM.  but i see your point.  personally, i don't mind looking like an idiot when the situation warrents it.  so you resign and i would enjoy watching my own slaughter.

You didn't look like an idiot. You're an 800 playing against an FM at his request. You missed a tactic allowing him to fork your knight and bishop with a pawn. In the game with kramakintews you hung you're knight for no reason at all. This game is an improvement IMO.  I have made these kinds of mistakes and I believe a lot of people have. The game with Kacparov was lost, so if you felt like resigning that's fine. But you didn't look like an idiot. There would have been nothing wrong with playing on for awhile either for that matter.

I'd already admitted I made some stupid moves that I regretted immediatly in that first game.

Which many of us have done. My point was, your second game was an improvement, even though you lost.
