its how you can find the name of the people in the group "Circle of Trust OTB" easily
what does (COT) mean after someones name on here, i see it a lot?

Can people that are not in the circle of trust put COT after their name? or is there a thingy that stops it?

@mardonna,
no, its just no one else has the desire to do so :P
@gumpty,
the group uses (COT) to look at whos online or who has the most something
or, really just to find members quick.

It just makes it easy to find our group members, by going to View Players and typing in (COT) a list of all members of the Circle of Trust will be shown, it makes it easy for us to see who in our group is on line, on vacation, not available, and we can sort by name, ratings etc. i dont know why anyone who is not a member would want to put it after their name Maradonna (funny name for a Scot) lol.

Hmm, I think I may have removed this functionality recently due to slow database queries. We're working on an improved player search soon though.

Ah, it's not really that strange a name for a jock when you think about Maradona scoring the hand of god goal :)
Sadly, the last laugh is on me because I spelt his name wrong when signing up. I've been told I can change it but I'm man enough to face the reality that I'm am idiot.

I dont think so Jay (and please dont) this is under View Players, not under Members, ( which you did mess with, so you have to spell the name exactly) and good on you Jock, not many of us admit our mistakes lately. (Dont mention the Hand of God to an old Manc, LOL)

I have just checked Jay, you did take the query out, it worked well for our Admin, and I cant understand why you would take out something which was working, I am sure it did not affect the site in any way, and it gave so much information for our Group.

Thanks Jay, it was a great tool in our Group to find a member with a similar rating who was on line and ready for challenge right then.

Circle of Trust OTB is a group that plays correspondence like otb, nothin exept your brain, very friendly, and fun, has lots of different exiting chess tourneys, but is hard to get in.

CoT members adhere to playing with no outside source nor books, softwares, databases - once a game has started.

So when playing a game COT members do not open a chess book? If they have several games then when can they ever look at a chess book?

You can learn when you are not on line COT does not allow outside influence with your current games You cant use a chess book to help, or search for next best moves, you play the game as though you were sitting opposite your opponent, if you were playing a friend, over the board, you would not have a chess book on your lap, or leave the room to search online for your next move, that is how we try to play, and expect our members to play other members the same way. because you cannot see your opponent, this is where the Trust comes in.
