Just thought I'd also show you the classic Smothered Mate combination:

There's a cool smothered mate in the Caro-Kann Smyslov Variation if black plays too casually.  I've been hit by this once, but it's not something I'm ever going to forget.

I concur with Pelayo_vial from whom I just accepted a challenge.  About two years ago I read in a chess magazine "the rim in grim."  It is grim for the knight because he loses half of his power, and it is grim for the king because he loses escape paths.  Thus, when it comes to the end of the game, I try to keep my opponent's king as grim as possible, that is, I try to force him as close to the rim as possible and keep him there.
