What is Chess.coms policy on Plagiarism?

I couldn't find a posted policy concerning plagiarism and/or the use of copyrighted pictures and other images without permission. I personally have read a couple posts by a member here that were copied and pasted word for word from another source, without citation or even quotation marks, in short, passing others work off as their own words.

Note: I was in community when I posted this there, for some reason whenever I post a new thread on my android, it automatically defaults to chess discussion.

Mmm, I'd assume that can happen often and would be virtually impossible to police it.

I said it on another thread fella, unhealthy obsession.

Others should cite the authors: do they think people would be more impressed with THEIR words over, say, Keres or Tal or Fischer or Nunn, etc?  I always cite the original author because they are much better at chess than me and the words should carry more respect that way!  I don't always cite the books in which I found old GM games I post since the games were not part of the author's work unless I include their annotations.

Well put. I think when one uses the words of others, the author or source should always be cited. Failure to do this makes it appear you are attempting to pass their words off as your own. I know some people to this intentionally to appear more knowledgeable or intelligent than they actually are, however some just may not know that using another's work without giving proper credit is theft and certainly questions the ethical makeup of the perpetrator.

Originally, Bobby was an infamous blocker on religious grounds. However, is THIS a violation of the copyright. 2Q1C has a thread about "Culture Vultures".  I figured he just bought a new Allan Parsons Project album.                                                                                                                                phpUfXStt.jpeg

I don't want to know how many here have copyrighted images as the profile picture. I don't even want to guess that!

Avatar of public-image

your chance of getting that right is very slim indeed!

I prefer to use all my own images whenever possible.
